Typically made from wood reinforced bronze, these shields were meant to protect the whole body, while still allowing the Hoplites to continue fighting. These shields were most effectively used in a phalanx, the classic Greek battle formation. This movie inspired replica is cast with modern materials like fiberglass reinforced resin and hand painted to give a very authentic worn bronze look.
