👽 Rare vintage 1980s ALF finger puppet featuring Gordon Shumway.
This small novelty puppet was produced during the height of ALF’s popularity and stored unused for decades as New Old Stock (NOS). Measuring approximately 2¾ inches tall by 1¾ inches wide, it captures the unmistakable look of ALF from the classic NBC television series.
📺 ALF, short for Alien Life Form, was created in 1984 and became a pop‑culture icon after crash‑landing into the suburban garage of the Tanner family. The show aired on NBC from September 22, 1986 to March 24, 1990, and remains beloved for its sharp humor, one‑liners, and ALF’s constant attempts to eat the family cat.
🛸 On his home planet of Melmac, ALF was known as Gordon Shumway, named after his grandmother — a legendary Melmacian famous for being one of the few women who could split a block of wood with her lips. That strange and playful lore helped give the character depth beyond the costume.
📦 Condition Notes:
This piece was never played with and remained in storage for decades. As is common with vintage novelty items, the original adhesive has aged, and the lower hair may need light reattachment with glue. Otherwise, it presents cleanly and displays well.
